Board office hours

 

The board is open the following days of the week and times.  (After hours, board staff will still be working, but the office will be closed to the public, and we will not be available by phone.)  Please see our schedule of state holidays for office closures.  Also, on exams days, we may not be able to respond immediately to phone calls.  You can send us an email or leave a voice mail, and we'll return your call as soon as possible.

 

  • Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, closed

NOTE: Session Law 2022-72, which goes into effect January 1, 2023, establishes a new board. The new North Carolina Board of Barber and Electrolysis Examiners will replace the now-merged Board of Barber Examiners and Board of Electrolysis Examiners. Most or all of the vacant positions will be filled in January 2023. As appointments are made, this page will be updated. Please do not contact board members directly.  Instead, please send your request to the board staff.

Inspectors

 

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine shop inspections (randomly selected shops), opening new shops, and conducting investigations.  Inspectors also assist with school audits and inspections.  Finally, inspectors administer board examinations for applicants for apprentice and registered barbers and barber instructors.

Financial statements

 

Below are recent financial statements prepared by an outside CPA auditing firm. Please note that statements for fiscal year 2022 and before will be for the Board of Barber Examiners or Board of Electrolysis Examiners, since the two agencies were not merged until January 1, 2023. Also, please note that the Board of Electrolysis Examiners was normally exempt from the requirements for have audits by outside CPA firms.
